Storms

Storms

Every night I lay awake,
Pray the Lord my soul to take,
Yet I hear these empty cries,
Of people whose dream has died,
All the storms coming to sea,
The empty promises people keep,
Love is new and yet old,
Time is no keeper,
Emotions are becoming weaker,
rolling thunder,
People out to plunder,
Where is the just,
When others lack trust,
Forgiveness is a word leaving,
Cold is a warm welcome,
People steal people,
There is value in wrong,
Shame for right,
People create painful fights,
The storm is coming tonight
