Story of the Borrower

Story of the Borrower
Labor, the punishment bestowed
Forever paired with mankind
One sin turned another, watch as we corrode
Manipulation, now control of mankind
You work so hard to pay for such a pathetic abode
Man does not work to live oh no
How foolish a thought
We live to work whether it be with hands or hoe
The price of a full stomach is quite a lot
Can't afford it? Go ahead, borrow
Wishing you hadn't taken the loan
The empty stomach never left
A noose begins to form while you groan
Any money being made now cleft
No going back, deal set in stone
Impossible to return, a far-fetched dream
Seems alcohol the frequent purchase
Clawing and crying at the bills flowing in like a stream
Government on your tail, getting nervous
Not only your house, they steal your esteem
Cold streets open their ruthless arms
Afraid of authority you may encounter
The only means of safety surely firearms
Overwhelming depression living on over-the-counter
Sprinting away in delirium at the sound of alarms
The hole you began digging now black, belonging to space
Too many homeless to help, they're all the same
Sinking deeper and deeper you've abandoned any grace
You don't exist anymore, invisible, man with no name
Just another hobo who shot himself in the face

You've painted a bleak but true picture, excellent!
Thank you Ian! I've noticed I quite like writing poetry that is exactly that. I really liked some of your poems by the way, great manipulation of the English language!
Thank you very much, Nicholas.
