Stranger in me

Stranger in me
Heard a person speaking on the radio,
Claimed to be from my town.
Words I heard, they cut me deep,
Is it possible it’s how I sound?
The question asked inside my head,
Like I have the choice.
If I sound as bad as that,
Time to change my voice.
If I wonder who to blame for this,
Know where he speaks his lies.
The voice talks to me everyday,
Monologue, behind my eyes.
Ask yourself this my friends,
Who is this voice inside us all?
He sounds nothing like I do,
I trust his every call.
Is it possible we’re not alone?
In this vehicle of our soul.
The body keeps us all inside,
Giving guidance is their role.
I think that makes me happy,
Makes it easier to just be.
The voice insides a friend of mine,
He’s what makes me, me.
