STRAPPED FLAT

I'm gonna put it in a psalm like David:
My concrete bed is no larger than my cell...
I am going out flat lining a solitary confinement
And my struggle...my tension...my hate..."Their"
Violence...have me on my knees asking
And waiting for my "humanness" to return...
I am told I no longer have a right to it.

I'm gonna put it in a psalm like David:
"Father do not cast me from your presence"
Here on death row waiting for the final pronouncement.
Yeah, I'm strapped flat; only twelve minutes to exit.
I feel my veins, my bones, my heart resisting
A death that my brain doesn't understand.

I'm gonna put it in a psalm like David:
"Father your praise is in my mouth and a double-edged sword in my hand!"
Who am I?  The thief? the murderer? the predator?...no i am not.
Condemned to a last supper by those who spoke
Judgement with sentences concurrently and consecutively;
Memorialized on paper into perpetuity far beyond natural life.
Yeah, I am boarding a life flight out draped in shanks and iron.
Hell, I haven't felt anything softer; even the water is rock hard!

I'm gonna put it in a psalm like David one last time:
"I was young and now I am old and YOU are still with me."
I have been coiled up in ambiguity and the vagaries of law
By that "good cop bad cop" shit...my eyes wide shut for three days!
Look, I do what I do, did what I done, I got street cred to survive.

Was too fucking strong to keep the needle inactive.
I'm strapped flat and old and not gonna die surrounded by love and tears.
