Strength beyond the pain

Sometimes when I look into your eyes, I see the sparkle of the stars in the night skies, the anticipation, and the excitement- somehow never fails to bewilder me. I wonder how something so beautiful under the heavens exists, but I realise this sparkle is only a distraction from the heartache. I remember that it’s time to let go, and I know that thinking of forgetting leaves you scared.  Not scared of the final relief of letting go of the baggage to find peace, but you’re scared of the memories we may one day forget. It’s never the memories that we need to forget, but that baggage; the distraction that takes away the beauty of a true sparkle. The weight of confusion and heartache that pulls us down into the depths, but the constant reminder of the cynical side of our existence and despair - of who we are and this conflict called pain. It takes time to heal, and it takes suffering to gain.
