Strongbow

Strongbow

Look at your legacy
Mr De Clair
or does the truth
now hurt,
with Anglo Norman
came Saxon hoardes
your arrival
ever so curt.
On McMurrough's signal
could you foresee
a land to be
enslaved,
our Brehon laws
our customs culled
so little
would be saved.
Could you foresee
the cuckoo's egg
of a union
built on greed,
could you care
for a ravaged land
it's people
left in need.
Through Aoife's eyes
could you see
much beauty
to be loved,
son's of Eireann
cruelly snatched
to the margins
shoved.
Strongbow
could you care
about
this carcass now.
The sands of time
move swiftly on
as mortals
wonder how.

Excellent write. You know the answer to your question they never cared and never will.
They still defend the heinous acts of even their most modern campaigns
