Struggling

She’s standing in front of the mirror,
Wrists bleeding,
Palms shaking,
Heart racing.
She doesn’t like the person she’s become.
She misses being that innocent ballerina,
Full of laughter, music, and love.
Now she’s fighting for her life,
Knowing the monsters will not let her win.
She screams and punches her mirror,
Her fist now bloody and covered in glass shards.
Mascara is running down her face,
Lipstick stains everywhere on her.
She takes a shot of heroin,
She can already feel it in her veins.
She’s feeling kind of dizzy,
So she turns on the shower and lay in the bathtub.
Her body is covered in bruises,
Scrapes,
Bite marks,
Scars.
The water turns a dark red.
Her heart starts to slow down,
She can feel her body giving up on her.
Her lungs shut down and she tries to gasp for air,
She struggles to hold on until she can’t anymore.
