Suicide

Suicide

Some people will suffer, and not say a word,
Believing their problems, should be hidden, not heard.
We need more awareness, to help those confide,
How desperate a person, to think suicide.

Opinions will vary, on why this occurred,
Let's not base opinion, or cross lines which are blurred.
This act is not cowardly, you have to be brave,
To feel your last option, is to go to your grave.

Death due to suicide, is frightening to read,
Statistically speaking, there is a great need.
Mental health needs supporting, and less stigma applied,
Today, eighty four sufferers, will already have died.

Then there's the limbo, for those left behind,
Not understanding, and no answers to find.
All feeling guilty, that no-one had seen,
How desperately unhappy, their loved one had been.

Suicide is tragic, suicide is real,
Greif is the outcome, so many will feel.
Frustration and anger, that we couldn't tell,
The pain and the anguish, of their living hell.

Bullying, degrading, no self worth and lots more,
On a day to day basis, will open the door,
Depression sets In, it becomes harder to cope,
Suicidal action, becomes their last hope.

We all need to listen, encourage support,
Though, it is difficult, use compassion and thought.
If they feel stiffled, or struggling to talk,
Change the environment, perhaps take a walk.

My son is a statistic, like the above eighty four,
He took his life, at aged just, thirty four.
Suicide affects us, our loss even more,
Pride over talking, and gone is a son we truly adore.

We need to gain knowledge, awareness and skill,
Actively listen, when they don't think you will.
Help them to see, just how much you do care,
And if ever your needed, you will always be there.

This picture depicts, the daily eighty four,
By the end of tomorrow, there will be eighty four more,
Look at the picture, reflect and decide,
What is still needed, to reduce suicide.

In memory of my son, and with love from his mum,
Please consider their feelings, to do what they've done,
Some say it's selfish, and some that it's sad,
Some express opinion, they had to be mad.

Suicide isn't funny, its not weakness, it's despair,
Contemplation, is the sadness, someone could be there.
Listen to your loved ones, complacency won't do,
Don't be left with questions, you have no answer to.
