Poem -

Summer Storm

The summer sun clouds over
Covering the skies like black velvet
Suddenly the air turns chilled and windy
And beads of rain drop from above
Rustling leaves sway in ghostly dance
And in the distance thunder rumbles
White lightning etches across the sky
With a sudden flash of brilliance
The daisies are pelted as the rain pours down
Muddy puddles form and drown the soil
Fresh laundry flaps violently on the line
Some fly free and are lost to the storm
But out of chaos comes sudden calm
The land becomes still and hushed
A cautious sun peeks over the hill
And slowly breaks through the dark curtain
It radiates its warmth below
Making the remaining droplets glisten
An arch of rainbow from a million tiny prisms
Paints the sky with light again
