Summon Your Sorrows

They say that art never comes from happiness

At least mine doesn’t

If love is the heart’s brother

Pain must be the mind’s cousin

Writing requires hatred,

A level of anger, patience and passion

The way of life portrayed in words

Needs a description in a macabre fashion

Reach into the inner soul

And summon the deepest sorrow

The monstrocities of yesterdays take a certain toll

On affecting the works of tomorrow

So when you’re crawling in the gutter,

And devastation has done its part

Pick up a pen and paper and create a work of art
