Sunrise of the Heart

Sunrise of the Heart

My night was dark when you said goodbye without saying a word
I heard muffled cries in the misty night
I thought they were from a lost soul but it turned out to be me
As the night became late it became darker and darker
So dark I could not see my hand in front of me
Though I could see visions of brighter days
Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  When I closed my eyes
Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  And saw light in the skies
Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  But they were just delusions of grandeur
I turned on every light in the house
Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Not for fear of the dark
But because I wanted to see your picture
Then the dawn arrived
I knew I had survived
The dark memories of your leaving
I felt an uplift
As I looked out at the morning
And could feel my heart enlightened
And a voice inside said with assurance
Β  Β  Β  It was a sunrise of the heart
