Unlike footprints in the sand
You made a deep impressionĀ
On the inside of my heart
I felt you take possession
Shooting your straight dart
I didnt know I was ready
To experience this intense
Love that you offer steady
Whilst we wait in suspense
Unlike footprints in the sand
It won't wash away
Your love a supportive hand
To lift me every day

Love does indeed leave footprints in your heart. Never thought of it like this before, now I know why my heart felt trampled when the love of my life betrayed me.... it was because of the footprints already there. Fabulous poem. Thank you so much for sharing x
