Surviving (The Psychopath)
The harshest truth is that he cant live
without the your constant attention.
Your emotional pain feeds his gluttonous soul.
His egotism tells him he is the reason you are broken
and he smiles .
Don’t look for revenge, that merely feeds
his contemptuousness,
but to give no response will make him
try even harder to hurt you.
His need to remain in control is boundless,
and always he smiles
And yet, you still hope for a reaction.
His Ted Bundy like charm used fearlessly to blind reason,
but who hasn’t used charm to ingratiate a boss?,
to make us appear ‘nice’?
Empathy not their default mode,
guilt free and remorseless,
the perfect, smiling Politician.
Too long you wait for change, love, affection
Fractured mind, bleeding knees,
He is the beast scratching at your door,
willing you to open up, let him in, to hurt again
whilst always smiling…
Latch that lock, lose the anger,
only let kindness and trust back in
You are still here,
You are still you
You are
surviving.

Wow. I read The Psychopath Test and I love the line
When you apply the tests standards to politicians they all come out as psychopaths.
Very powerful description of surviving evil.
Excellent write Lady Lodigiana
Nigel
I read recently that ideal psychopath professions also include Lawyers and Surgeons as well as Politicians.. that's quite a scary prospect! I was recently watching 'Extremely Wicked' which outlines Ted Bundy from the perspective of his girlfriend. Quite unnerving really that he could pass as so 'normal'( whatever that is)....and charming..I know one young lady who lives with and is totally obsessed by someone who I would guess is more a sociopath.. but equally destructive. It's a frightening sight to see and I can only hope one day she sees a way out ..Thanks so much Sir Nigel love reading your comments! xx
Loki,
Wonderful, painful write my grammy.
There are some gorgeous lines in there, and a lot of pain.
Fantastic job!
Matthew.
I often wonder how often we might brush shoulders with who knows who?? maybe it's just as well we dont know...always love hearing from you my honorary ..Big hugs Grammy xxx
Yes, life can be frighteningly interesting, can't it?
This is a not so true story, but once I was eating lunch with Hannibal Lecter, and I'm thinking 'man, that liver looks so familiar!' Come to find out it was MY liver, but I kept eating it because it was deliciously prepared(and, fortunately, I was born with four livers).
Anyway, afterward, I had run into Jodie Foster, so I asked her to arrest him. She refused, stating she was just an actress, so we dined on her kidney(she has 5 though). Anyway, we all had a good laugh about it when Anthony Hopkins popped in with a big plate of fava beans, and some really quiet lambs. It was a good day. So I think it goes to show that all encounters with crazy people who want to eat you don't have to be unpleasant.
So, I really understand your writing. ; ) Kidding.
Thanks Grammy!
You make me howl with laughter.. as we say here ..you are totally, and wonderfully bonkers !!! Bon appetit x xx
Thank you Grammy!!
I've got a bit of a screw loose...and I can't find my screwdriver...but you're laughing with me, so perhaps you can't find your screwdriver either...and that's a good thing! "If we weren't all crazy, we'd all go insane"- J. Buffett. Am I right?
Thanks Loki, for understanding my lack of sanity, you're the best.
Matthew.
