Swimming With Pessimism

The human optimist
I wish I could be
always carries
in their wallet
a sunshine light beam
as an antidote
to the disease
of melancholy
which can strike 
any of us anytime

My cynical brethren
who roll with the sniping majority
mock these light dispensers
because misery
not only loves company
it recruits it actively

I do so despise
being on this losing team
of bitter pessimists 
that reeks of negativity
which is only natural
given our self hating proclivity
