SWINGS

This little one
She flies so high
And time distorts
Into days gone by

With her sweet smiley face
And long flying hair
I step back in time
And it's you I see there

In exact same place
The sun upon your face
Swinging high swinging free
With a small girls grace

But she is not you
This child brand new
For you stand near
In your grown up hue

And I am changed
In ways untold
Careworn grey
And surprisingly old

So up to the sky
With the days gone by
And down to the ground
With the truth around

And I step forth gladly
In the morning light
For my eyes are clear
With fresh insight

As love steals my heart
With this second chance
To be here in the presence
Of new childhood dance

So off we go
Generations three
For we've a life to live
And a world to see
Together.
