Tabby Cat

Tabby Cat

I am an old stray tabby cat
Lauded in my stead
Through door ajar
And window crack
I creep onto your bed

I am a fat stray saggy cat
Sway glut of excess skin
Who’s time divides
Between shade and shine
When searching through your bin

I am a fey stray baggy cat
Distinct by sable brow
Unchaperoned eye
Un-whiskered cheeks
Untamed soprano miaow

I am a waylaid stray shaggy cat
Feet shorn of needled claw
Bent glabrous back
Threadbare tail
Few teeth for silent chaw

I am a wild stray craggy cat
Head freed from downy ear
Of my nine lives
I’ve had fourteen
Now I’m five lives in arrears
