Taking The Stage

Disbelief and shock shall not allow any soldier calm !
Some seek refuge by reading aloud a relevant psalm.
All wonder how such a conflict could ever take place,
Bitterness of the campaign etched upon every face !
Slaughter released this day will always live in infamy,
Why any principle of humanity forgotten, a mystery !
...................................................
So weary, none fathom how they can sustain the fight,
Many driven to utter despair before such a grim sight !
Tomorrow it recommences with a slim chance to live,
As this hell on earth shows it can never easily forgive !
Everything is sacrificed, for prejudice crafted by hate.
Satan has risen, taking the stage so eager to dominate !
..................................................
Statue is "Tommy", First World War soldier, in Seaham
near Sunderland.( 1101 )
We will remember all lost to conflict.

So pleased you felt this hit the mark ! Needed to capture the atmosphere and hopelessness of all out bitter fighting relating to the First World War.
Wishing you the very best as always. :)
The most should be made of peace with values and principles making war less likely. Adopting an approach where one helps another and selfish behaviour is not tolerated means a caring sharing world is created. In this world division and prejudice is replaced by love and concern for fellow travellers in life. We all tread the same path and all need help somewhere along the way !
You do not fight any who help you. A bond between communities/societies makes conflict a remote possibility.
Peace and love.
Wishing you the very best ! :)

My Brother Poet Richard,
Thank you for your powerful poem, which I will comment on with one of my own.
The "Winds Of War" upon us
The slaughter of the lambs
That lose their lives in battle
In the villages of the damned
.
Satan watches ever closely
His power on the rise
As a brave and noble hero
Takes a bullet tween the eyes
Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
Peace and love to you.
Take care my friend !
