Tall Dark Creature

Tall dark mysterious creature,
Oh how you haunt me,
Not only in my dreams,
As a child you scared me so deeply and true,
As tall as the doorway,
Where you stood there so still,
Not a word I could say so frightened I was.
For your shadow still scars me to this very day.
An outline of a Sheriff from out of the West,
With holes in your trench coat like bullets went threw,
As your eyes glowed red as you whispered my name,
My head hid under the covers as so frightened I was.
To this day you still haunt me,
Though you may still frightened me,
I feel you mean no harm,
For when you present yourself,
A tragedy soon will fall,
For you have warned me so many a times,
For weeks to months only to prepare me,
On the upcoming heartbreak that soon to become.
To the tall dark mysterious creature,
I don't know if I should thank you,
Or blame you for the pain,
For the death of a loved one that is not far away.
To the talk dark mysterious creature,
I saw you again,
This time it was different,
Not times like before,
For I was expecting death at the door.
As I was startled from my sleep,
From your presents at my door,
You stood there and watched me,
For no reason at all and no death that followed along.
To the tall dark mysterious creature,
What do you mean,
For I have no name to give you at all.

Tall dark mysterious creature, I've got one of those, check out "still in silent sleep". Great write, thanks for sharing.
Thank you, I did check it out sent chills down my back could we be talking about the same creature I wonder.
During my youth I had a tall, dark, inexplicable mysterious creature I named The Macabre Mr. Grimm.
I believe I wrote about him in the very first poem I posted here on Cosmo.
The scary thing about this guy is that he has now started to invade the dreams of my younger nieces and nephews, even today.
He wears a tall top hat, dresses like a mortician, and the looks he gives alone could stop the heart of the stoutest man.
I have no idea what his purpose for appearing is.
Your eerie poem reminded me of this phenomena.
Nicely penned, Tara.

wow amazing poem see as a child his visits where every night for no reason at all. As I got older his visits seemed to only be when there was a death around. A couple of times however this was not true. One night I jumped up out of a deep sleep just to see him standing there, another night had such a vivid nightmare of him chasing me and no matter how hard i tried to get away i couldn't. Now my 7 year son is haunted by the creature of night. One day I asked my son why he was afraid of the dark he told be because of the tall dark man with a cowboy hat and red eyes. I asked him if he sees him in his room he told me no that he sits in the living on the couch calling his name. Gives me chills
