Hi, tried one out earlier and couldn't even get a theme together.. I was so busy counting syllables ..5, 7, 5, 7, 7.!!.....well put together piece ! Loved it xx
Hi Lodigiana
ohhh I haven't written a Tanka in ages, hmm I might have to have a go again. Larry's a great help for motivation and inspiration :)
This is brilliant, well done
I love to.step out of my comfort zone and try something new

Thanks Lorna, still not totally comfortable scribbling away as I find I am thinking too much about the actual structural requirements rather than content .Looking forward to maybe seeing a few more to try to get the rhythm going in my head ..if you see what I mean? Thanks for taking the time to read and comment-so appreciated xx I would love to read any Tankas you might have and yes it's good to step out of your comfort zone once in a while- maybe a cinquain next!! if I can ever understand how it's put together!
Lodigiana
Costly
Priceless gift to give,
Although it did have much cost.
Thanks WILL be as such,
Very soon you’ll see that day.
Matters not, the price is paid!
I wrote this earlier year when I was experimenting with different form.
I enjoy the shorter forms, you should try an ottava rima...have a look at Within Walls on my page as an example
This is great Lorna!! What a talented girl you are! Thanks for that and yes I will check out Within Walls..excited to see exactly what an ottava rima looks like.. thank you xxx

Hi Lodigiana
Jason recommended the Stephen Fry book "The Ode less traveled" last year and it has almost any form you can think of and it really breaks everything down well. It really is worth a look.

It's so easy to tank on a TANKA!!..... you certainly haven't tanked here!!..... succinctly powerful on love's painful aspect!!.....ALL STARS!!.....LOVE and ROCKETS!!......T xo ?✳✴☀♥?
Thank you Tony! ....how lucky we are on this site to have such an abundance of talent and encouraging, supportive poets like yourself - it makes attempting new things much less scary and it's great to learn something new- I'm buzzin' now to try a few more...Thanks for your lovely words!! xx
Lodigiana
One day last week you wrote me
With a Tanka on your mind
You said you wanted me to help you
If I would be so kind
. You told me to be honest
When I read what you have wrote
After receiving it I sent you
A very truthful note
. It said "You need not have a teacher"
"For perfection have you found"
"These words that you have written"
"In beauty do abound"
.
Love,
Larry xxx
Dear Larry, help sometimes comes in many forms and you should know that your response was appreciated and in itself a great help..Thank you so much dear friend xxx
