Tears Behind My Smile

Tears Behind My Smile

You can't see them because I'm laughing so loud.

Trying to cover up the sadness inside while fronting for others to fulfill my pride.

Crying is for the weak is what I've always been told. Lord forbid I break that mold.

So I keep it in... hidden by this smile that should be rearranged upside down.

Trying to meet perfection from different sets of eyes can be overwhelming, yet I still don't cry.

But when the house is quiet and I am finally alone I shed one single tear to let my frustrations go.

Then, in an instant my smile returns to prepare myself to do it all over again.
