Tears For David

Inspired by Greg Etsells heartfelt poem, “Oh David”
Our dear friend and gifted poet Greg Etsell, just sent us the saddest news;
A friend of ours from The Villages, has brought us all the blues!
We’ve been gone for o’er six months now, but his departure breaks our hearts;
For he was fit and only seventy, now our world he’s had depart!
.
We‘d see him every morning at Starbucks, at a table with his coterie;
Sometimes he’d pass right by us, and pet our beloved dear Cody!
He and Greg were the best of buddies, it’s so hard for him accept;
This man who was so loving, now climbs “Jacob’s Ladders” steps!
.
The good so often die young, leaving sadness in their wake;
Loved ones and many close friends, their deaths so hard to take!
We cry for you “Dear David”, without you we will never be the same;
We make to you this sacred pledge, that we will ne’er forget your name!
.
.
He slew Goliath
Then became a giant too
Loved by many

I didn't know David or his work, Larry. But I can certainly empathize with you concerning the loss of a beloved friend.
The heartfelt words and sentiments expressed here honor the man's memory and his writing.
Bravo...

As I stated, I didn't know David, Greg.
But I still know what it feels like to lose a close friend.
Dear Dean,
David was a kindred Soul, with a kind heart, and an ever present smile on his face.
Linda and I wish we were down in The Villages, and could have attended the service.

My Dear Tony,
Thank you for your lovely condolences. Having been gone from The Villages for over six months, it is hard for us to believe that he passed away. He was a very young seventy, and in top physical condition, having just played pickleball the day before.
I know he will be greatly missed by the large contingent of friends that he had.
Love,
Larry xxx
