Tears of a giraffe

it was one of a few..
the sweet giraffe..
born into the zoo,
where it was safe
for a year,
or two.
And then the Ringer
expressed concerns,
there's way too
many ..my heart
burns..
time for a cull.
They didn't choose
the old..
they chose the new,
Just a baby..
and the crowds came
to watch, as they fed
him to the lion's..
without fear..
like a circus to view..
Sweet baby giraffe,
Torn in half .
and I looked and
wondered..
who actually is
the animal here...?
