Tender Leah
Leah, you plant the seeds of love
Waiting for a chance to grow
And it feels like a thousand years
That I've known you
Didn't we once live
In a castle on a hill so fair
Where you were my lady
I your knight in shining armour?
You sang songs for me
To soften the sting
When duty forced me away
From your sweet company
Leah, didn't you light the stares
In the summer season
With your bright eyes?
Or are you just a vision?
On a sleepless night
Of discontent?
Yet here we are
In the present tense falling rain
Tender Leah
Thoughts of you
 Leave me breathless

Welcome back Cherie, I've not been here as much for the last little while; internet went down for a few days; and as you can image there was gnashing of teeth and epic outcry upstairs; outside of the fact that I could not get on the site, I was quite pleased with the lack of internet; I always see these things as a sign to have a walk, climb a tree or cuss of the neighbour for not carrying a plastic bag as they walk their dog; the law in these parts.....anyway I'm so glad you commented on this poem, I have an old poem called 'Leah' I'm  fond of it but it is somewhat two dimensional, it speaks of falling in love as a fairy tale, not even a metaphor....I tried to fuse that idea with a bit of reality as well.....what does falling in love with someone do for you in a good and practical way in the present tense; I picked the most basic thing; comfort and encouragement then used the Leah beginning and put the practical present tense at the end....wow so glad when you comment....first you are a great poet, and second you understand poetry very well, I value your observations beyond words.....thank you once again sis, apologies for being so long winded but I was so pleased with your comment....cheers
