Thanksgiving Day

Our forefathers did set asideĀ
A day during which we shoudl abideĀ
Our acknowledgement of the great tideĀ
That they did for us rideĀ
To give ofference of our gratitudeĀ
Without untrue or hollow platitudeĀ
Giving this utterence without latitudeĀ
But with a genuinely thankful attitudeĀ
This one day is put aside to celebrateĀ
What has been brought to our great land's gateĀ
By those who dared the follies and wrath of fateĀ
To found a new stateĀ
Where they were greeted by free menĀ
Who welcomed them to the harvest's binĀ
Of the land they believed belonged to the people IndianĀ
Where they would raise the ring of freedomes' dinĀ
This day often given to bingeingĀ
On turkey dressing and many other trimmingĀ
And on which we to many an activity go gamingĀ
This day we call ThanksgivingĀ
