Thanksgiving Day

Our forefathers did set aside 
A day during which we shoudl abide 
Our acknowledgement of the great tide 
That they did for us ride 
To give ofference of our gratitude 
Without untrue or hollow platitude 
Giving this utterence without latitude 
But with a genuinely thankful attitude 
This one day is put aside to celebrate 
What has been brought to our great land's gate 
By those who dared the follies and wrath of fate 
To found a new state 
Where they were greeted by free men 
Who welcomed them to the harvest's bin 
Of the land they believed belonged to the people Indian 
Where they would raise the ring of freedomes' din 
This day often given to bingeing 
On turkey dressing and many other trimming 
And on which we to many an activity go gaming 
This day we call Thanksgiving
