THAT TIME OF YEAR

LIGHT UP THE CHRISTMAS TREE

THAT TIME OF YEAR

Tis that time of year again
When Christmas lights are lit
And we sing those famous carols
And moan a little bit

Credit cards take a beating
The numbers wearing thin
The signs  of Christmas chintz
Twinkle, sparkle and spin

Santas arrived in his sleigh
In a great parade
A stocking stuffed with treasures
In  which children’s dreams are made

 There is a lovely scene
Called a nativity
Featuring sheep and cattle  lowing
Three learned men came to see

He lay in His manger bed
Wrapped in swaddling clothes
Some loved this tiny babe
And others chose to loath

Herad tried to knock him off
When He was just a child
His Heavenly Father protected Him
So innocent meek and mild

Jesus grew into His ministry
With twelve friends he changed the world
Three  years of prayers and parables
His ministry unfurled

An everlasting legacy
Like foot falls in the cool smooth sand
He’s with us every day
We are a child holding our fathers hand
