The Age of Wonder

When I used to stare at the stars
From my vacant suburban night
There was no purpose
Just the pleasure
Of their incandescent light
That hinted at mysteries beyond the world I knew
But then I got older
The stars became complicated
Who owns the stars, anyway?
And what are they?
Just a disarray of cosmic dead matter
For the study of use-to-be dreamers
Then I lived in a place
Where there were no stars
No horizon of luminescent friends
I was the world
And the world became so small
That I could hardly fit inside
When I got older still
I remembered all the things
I didn’t know
The stars blinked their mysteries
To me. A nobody
One night, and the darkness came alive
Again.

Welcome to Cosmofunnel !
It is easy to tell how this write was a release. You have put much into it and the reward is for all reading it, as well as for you I expect ! It is an honest, wonderfully delivered relaying of deep-seated belief.
Best wishes to you ! Â :)Â
Hi Nicole,
This is a beautifully written work. The mystery of the stars has always interested me. We are looking at them as they were 2,000 years ago, for that's how long it takes their light to get to earth. So when we look in the sky, we are actually viewing ancient history. Welcome to Cosmo! Looking forward to more works from you.
Peace and Love,
xox Larry

Nicole,Â
this is quite good, and your approach is exceptional, love how you constructed this, you put a new vibrant spin on writing a poem about the stars, very impressive work...cheers
Thank you Christopher - very generous of you to comment so :).Â
