THE AROMA OF LIFE

Physical work and it’s toll

THE AROMA OF LIFE

AFTER A BROKEN AND TIRESOME DAY
I INCHED MY WEARY SOUL
UP TEN FLIGHTS OF STAIRS
LIKE A SNAIL RACING OUT OF TRAFFIC.

MY HEART WERE RELIEVED
TO FIND THE FRONT DOOR
LEFT SPRAWLED OPENED
LIKE A GYMNAST IN A PERFECT SPLIT,
THE ACTION OF MY CAREFREE NEIGHBOR.

WITH STEEL TOE BOOTS
TIGHTLY LACED TO MY FEET,
AND CLOTHES STAINED WITH GREASE,
I CASTED MYSELF ACROSS MY BED
AS A FISHERMAN WOULD HIS NET.

THE DAY AND ITS THOUGHTS
VANISHED IN SECONDS,
AND THE WORLD AS I KNEW IT,
BECAME BLACKNESS OF DARKNESS.

TWO DAYS LATER,
I REGAINED CONSCIOUSNESS,
BEING AWAKEN BY THE AROMA
OF FRESHLY BREWED ROASTED COFFEE
FROM ACROSS THE WAY.
