The beacon

The beacon

Beacon of a reasoned mind
shining brightly on that rock
you guide my ship so safe and true
protect me from the fatal knock

Beacon of hope you sustain me
through the voyage of tumbling wave
you held my sail in ravaging wind
and with your light so much I gave

Beacon of faith you give me trust
to know my vessel will prevail
to know the passage will one day end
and through the voyage I learned to sail

Beacon of love you carried me
to shores that fill my heart with joy
you showed the voyage was worth the while
to know that stars would fill the sky

Beacon of life so much you taught
forever showing me the way
the vessel stands in storm once more
but bow and stern say "not today".
