The Beautiful Lakes

The Beautiful Lakes

Silence & solitude sat slurping my tea
Only the evening chorus of lakeside nature serenading me
I shall store bucket loads & lock it in my inner-mind’s memory
Opening my personal memoirs of this golden treasury

An abundance of varieties of birds are sweetly singing
on such a stunning, beautiful night
As my eyes feast on the most glorious panoramic picture-postcard sight

Rolling, rugged shadowy hills
smothered by copsed woodlands
& Magna Mater’s thrills
Milk-like, glassy clear water as still as can be
Amidst cascading, intertwining shapes & sizes of high-peaks I see

Church bells are pealing  breaking my tranquility & peace
Tho I adore this sound not wanting it to cease
Windermere on Bowness
boasts scenic natural appeal
My few days at the Lakes, spiritual betwixt surreal
