The Bewitching Barn Owl 🦉
Clandestinely the creature comes out of her cubbyhole
She is on an eventide rendezvous hunting for a tiny vole
Or any small nocturnal rodent would be very nice
She is on a mission for a vision for some scuttling mice
The beautiful Barn owl braves the winter weathers
With the whistling wind boisterously blowing her beautiful feathers
Tho times can be a struggle for this independent solitary soul
She has three hungry mouths to feed in her hidey cubbyhole
Never-the-less she must be fearless and force herself to fly
On her dangerous delving of do or die
As she clings her claws on the edge of the ledge
Her twenty-twenty vision spies food amidst a hawthorn hedge
So like a bat out of hell but with the grace of God
She takes off with tenacity and alights on a rod
There is a minute mouse amidst some mossy green grass
Her tiny bulbous eyeballs shine like crystal cut glass
With tapering talons and self assured strong will
This barbarous Barn owl commits her kill
Not a screech nor a squeak was heard from her happenstance
As she slaughtered the sacrifice with her hooky lance
Clutching her capture she glides thru the night
Such a shadowy spectral supernatural sight
Like a graceful ghost
A haunting hallucination
Is our bewitching Barn owl
Mother Nature’s sensation...
