The British Countryside❤️

In the local woodland as i was approaching near
I overheard a twit-twoo 
This sound was music to my ear

I strolled a little further & to my sheer surprise
Twas three young roe deer
a-pouncing & a-prancing
I stood still mesmerised

Reluctant to leave until the deer 
Were out of sight
I wandered onwards thru the mossy path
Then something stopped me to my delight

A black tipped nosed animal
Stood shyly, staring at me
Oh my goodness here was a wise old fox as russet as can be

Heaven’s above what a wondrous day this was
Tho I hadn’t finished yet
As I carried on thru a woodland copse, I stumbled on a badger’s set

A collasal hollow on the bottom of a hillock with a soily, sloped rise
Was where I spied two busy badgers grooming each other
Well I could hardly believe my eyes

Obviously Mr & Mrs Badger enjoying the afternoon, sizzling sun
Baby sitting the badger-clan whilst they were playing having fun

I tried to hide behind an old, oak stump protruding from the ground
Not daring to hardly breathe
I was affraid to make a sound

Then all at once I think they saw me
They disappeared one by one
Each went within their tunnelled cavity
In a blink of my eye they were gone

Twas time to say adieu, goodbye to my furry friends
Tho I wish I’d had a camera with me with the latest zoom lens

So overjoyed at my memories
of this most delightful day
I heard a woody, woodpecker a-tapping along my way

The British countryside is marvellous
Amass with wonderful, wildlife galore
An abundance of beautiful Mother Earth
For a nature lover to adore
