The Broadway Hustle

As a young man in the early sixties, I worked in N.Y.C.;
On my lunch break, I’d go to Times Square, to see what I could see!
The first thing that I noticed; was how fast the people walked;
For having been raised out in Ohio, we strolled and often talked!
But the folks out here were so frenzied, to get where they had go;
And if you weren’t able to keep up with them, to the ground they you would throw!
So I stood back in a doorway, as the packs came whistling by;
They looked just like possessed people, and I laughed until I cried!
Then I tried to feel compassion, for those greyhounds on a track;
And all at once it dawned on me, and I was taken quite aback!
The reason for that insanity, and all their chaotic cheer;
Was alas, on Thursday morning, their paychecks would appear!

Hello Larry…
In all big cities people will very quickly but time walking slowly, in New York, Barcelona or Paris people running frantically to nowhere. Away from the big cities, people will more restful but the passing days trips and everything goes so fast that barely have time for nothing.
It is my personal experience, in the city day is endless and when I'm away from it the hours they spend at the speed of light.
A greeting.
Hi Larry,
I loved this one sweetie, it looks huge compared to our little old Blighty!! and it`s a shame that all that water is between us because I`d love to go and see it all. The buildings in the US are all so big and the streets are the size of our towns in width!! I`ll bet it was fascinating for you! Well done for another interesting piece honey, you`re doing a brilliant job for me for the topics this month, I`m so proud of you sweetie.
Love G xx
Hey Larry!!.........I Lived in Greenwich Village for a while........ and a few blocks over from LaGuardia (where I lived) was Avenue of the America's (6th Ave.)........ and when you walked onto that street's sidewalk in the morning you'd be swept away into the stream of people heading to work.......... so when I read this I was swept away into memories......... thank you my friend.......... enjoyed this ...........Love and Rockets!!.......T xo
Hi Tony,
Ah, good old Greenwich Village. The first time that I visited it was in the spring of 1963. I was in NYC to see a friend and we went down to The Village on a Saturday night, and saw Jay and The Americans perform in a small bistro. Then in the mid seventies, as part of my business, I flew into NYC around 15 times a year. One of my clients took me to a fine French restaurant in The Village that, if I remember correctly, was on 23rd St. and whose name began with "La"(can't remember the rest). One of their specialties that we ordered, was a creamed crawfish soup. Loved the soup; passed on the craw. As usual, thank you for your comments on "The Broadway Hustle".
Peace and Love,
xox Larry
