The Broken Heart

The Broken Heart
One heart so vibrant and alive with love
One heart so strong yet gentle as a dove
One heart so fearfully and wonderfully designed
One heart that put everything on the line
One heart someone else happily called mine
One heart rebuilt with love over time
One heart...whole...complete...alive.
This heart withstood several attacks
This heart had tape over many many cracks
This heart fought on willing to die
This heart loved...but now asks why?
This little heart stands up and boldly cries!
Why must i be shattered...When i gave myself?
Why must i be taken...then returned to the shelf?
Why must i be walked on...then laughed at when im cold?
Why do i suffer so much pain when i am not very old?
I have been warm and i have been caring
I have been subtle and i have been daring
Even when your burdens you dumped on me
I struggled onward even when the future i could not see.
I bonded with your heart...i felt your pain
Many times i gave myself for your very own gain
I was always there through sunshine and rain
Now all thats left for me is a hurtful stain
But then the little heart stopped and said
Wait! Im hurt...but im not dead!
Though i am broken i can still be happy
Because of a joy that exists inside of me!
His name is Jesus...a very dear friend
He has always been...and will to the end.
So today i shall not weep and wail
But instead think of the one who NEVER fails.
The little heart pulled his strength together
So weak he felt he could be knocked over by a feather
He stretched himself out and brushed himself clean
He realized there was no reason for being mean
So he grinned to himself and wiped his shirt
He decided he would be happy...even in the hurt.
So when you are broken, battered, and worn
And your heart is weary and very forlorn
Remember theres a greater purpose in life
Do not stir trouble do not cause strife
Other hearts break just as easy as yours
So be careful and only give even more.
