Poem -

The Candle

As I watch the candle in my room
Lick the air with its soft flame
I think of our life, as it once was
And wonder how this all became

Your face is beginning to blur
I’m losing memory of your smile
The smile you once gave me
I try to remember whenΒ I saw love in your eyes

But it’s too far away

The sound of your voice is beginning to fade
When you call, it’s strange
It’s not the voice I once knew
The voice that said I love you

The touch I felt from you is gone
It went a long time ago
I’ve forgotten the warmth of your hands
How you felt in my arms
It’s like I can’t remember

Did it actually happen?

The candle in my room begins to flicker out
The oil that kept it burning for so long is all but empty

The room will get dark soon

And the candle that once was, will still be there
But the flame that once lit the roomΒ

Will be just a memory

I know there’ll be light in this room once more
I know there’ll be warmth around me

I just never wanted our candle to go out
Or feel the cold of this room surround me
