THE CEMETERY ON THE HILL

THE CEMETERY ON THE HILL

ON A COLD WINTER DAY
I WALKED THE CEMTERY
ON THE HILL A COLD WIND
FILLS THE AIR AS I COULD
HEAR THE WHISPERS OF
THE GRAVES  IT GAVE ME
CHILL AS THE SUN FILLED
THROUGH THE LITTLE
CLOUDS IN THE SKY
AS I WALK THIS HILL
I BEGIN TO READ THE
GRAVES  AS A COLD WIND
CAME UP  AND I THOUGHT
I SAW SOME ONE  OR WAS
IT JUST MY SHADOW AS
WALKED THIS HILL I FEEL
THE STILLNESS THAT
FILLS THE AIR AND I CAN
HEAR THE VOICES FROM
THE GRAVES AS I WALK
DOWN THE CEMETERY
ON THE HILL I THOUGHT
I SAW SOME ONE I LOOK
BACK IT WAS THE SHADOWS
OF THE GRAVES AND THE
TREES OR WAS IT
THE CEMETERY ON THE HILL

Nicely written Greg and very unsettling at the same time , one can feel the cold and that wind as well.
And just reading some comments you certainly know your pilgrim history and wrote your superb poem around that.
Thanks for writing and sharing and that snowy pic just adds to the cold poetic climate as well.
Five deserved stars and pinned too.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

\I have this fascination with death. I acknowledge it and its ;power over mortal man. Yet I want to disdain it and walk all about it and belittle it.. The walk on this hill with the gravestones... is the mock and the refusal to let it manipulate your perception... great write
