Poem -

The chair

With tearful eyes, I look across
to the cover at your chair
but the emptiness over whelms meĀ
no longer are you there.

I slowly rise to the piercing soundĀ
as the kettle whistle blows
and I make a cup of coffee
while the pain inside me grows.

I sit down at the tableĀ
the way we always did beforeĀ
but this time only silence greets me
as I hear your voice no more.

The tears well up once again
and my heart now has a hole
the place you filled in my lifeĀ
with all your heart and soul.

So now I sit here aloneĀ
nothing more to do but stare
to the corner where you used to sit
now a sad and empty chair.
