The Church Bench

My son recently challenged me to write a poem that does not relate to Knob innuendos.Β
This has not been a easy challenge, in fact riding a silverback gorilla bareback in the Congo whilst whistling the theme tune to "Gone with Wind" out of my arse would have been easier. So I wrote a poem for my son forΒ whom I love with all heart x
The Church Bench
I rest upon this bench and ponder the passing seasons
Winter months stripped back to a natural alluring darkness and stillnessΒ
Then Spring opens its bleary eyes and with astonishing grace shines new life upon the land
Summer appears shimmering with natural beauty that only nature can bestow
The nights draw in and Autumn is upon us, a wonderland of colour and a longing to walk beneath the trees
Then I cast my eyes upon the hallowed land
What regrets are buried deep within this sacred soil
One will never know, but there will be many
Life is a beautiful thing to behold, enjoy every ebb and flow. As Life is fleeting life regrets are eternal
