Poem -

the cocoon of your hands

the cocoon of your hands

many good things
can grow in a vacuum
many good things
that can make us feel better
many good things
that can help us to be better
wonderful things
like a spark that becomes light
in silence, in a vacuum

good feelings
good thoughts
good memories
a wish, a prayer
a reason to be thankful
simple things that can solve
things that are very complicated
even when we cry or
when we don’t find
a door, an open window
an answer or some relief

many beautiful things
many wonderful things
can grow there
in the emptiness of the cocoon
that is formed between your hands

a source of warmth in cold weather
a reason to keep
our hope alive
some trust
some peace of mind
some kindness
for ourselves and for others
who like us
need another human being

many beautiful things
many wonderful things
can grow from your heart
in silence, there
in the emptiness of the cocoon
that is formed between your hands
