The Compass Of Your Heart

The Compass Of Your Heart

Some people dread this new year.
Fear takes control of their lives.
Of making ends meet.
Of losing one's job
Of losing a loved one.
The list can be endless.
Fear will always be there.
Like a bad penny.
A demon sitting on our shoulder whispering in our ear.
And on our other,
The polar opposite.
And this is the one we should choose to listen to.
To guide us back on life's path,
When we lose direction.
For we all will stumble and fall.
A soft voice to teach and instil wisdom.
After we act irrationally,
To quickly correct our mistakes.
And we will make them.
For nobody in life is perfect.
Again, this list is endless.
Please choose listen to the good voice on your shoulder,
And whatever soothing calm it softly whispers,
Embrace it.
Cherish it.
And in moments of solitude.
When it says nothing at all,
Simply enjoy this moment of perfect peace.
And whatever map for this new year,
You carry inside your head,
Discard it.
And let the compass of your heart,
Guide you.
I wish you all well.

Being Me

Another wonderful poem. I have always imagined that upon my shoulders sits a devil and an angel, one on each.

I hope this year is a good one for you Shaun x
