The Crescent

The Crescent

Bathing it in the soothing chill of river waters,
Sunning it in the lukewarm young dawn-light,
Drying it in the shade of a wizened old neem,
Refreshing it in the fragrant mountain breezes;
I’ve preserved in a living corner within my heart-
Playing hide and seek, just to the left of your lips
That divine solitary crescent moon of a dimple.

The Hindi/Hindustaani original of this was my very first poem; about 10 years ago.
