The curse of growing up

Growing up is a chore
We learn all the things we don't need to know
They say they care and do our best
Yet when the question is asked what's the reply
One day you will understand....
Your too young to understand....
Only when your older can you see the truth...
When your ready in a few years we will talk....
Yet from the time we are born our parents lie
Nobody knows how far they can be pushedÂ
We believe the love we have is enough
They make claims of harmony and safety
With nothing showing our painful possibilities
The tears from losing our friends and family
The move from town to town
The horrible people who plague many lives
The feelings that only vulcans can control
I remember being excited to grow up
Seeing and believing the world was in reach
only to be crushed with knowledge It isn't
Work leaves family behind
Obsession creates obsticales we resentÂ
Plus time is in short supply
To grow up and see the world is lucky indeed
To experience growing up is the privilege
To be hidden from pain to live happily
To have no worries for years to come
Only to told to be an adultgood prodigy
Nah lets not grow I say
Lets remember the day the most importantÂ
Things were:
That last Easter egg hidden on the roof
The dare you can't sled that hill on a tube
The first time you went to a casino
Your first strip club
Your first illegal drink that tasted like crap
The realisation santa does know everything
The monsters at home are just your family
Keep the kids and family together always
