"the David I knew"

Like my nephew I to knew David, he laughed, and he was laughed at by those insincere fools who didn't know him.
I knew David because I knew his brother Gordon with whom I recall such find memories.
David was always around and yes he was different but my..how he made me laugo...he didn't understand jokes or irony but he would get involved and try to join in..I remember playing cricket and David was next to bat and he was asked if he was "left or right handed" but David didn't understand the question and simply held the bat and said "this way" I laughed...not at David's disability but in the comical way he disaged it...I remember we had one cricket box to share and each batsman after being out had to retrieve it from their trousers and pass it on to the next batsman..only David when he was haneed the box sniffed it and said "it's stinks" again I laughed and laughed..I could see the embarrassment in Gordon's face but I remember saying to Gordon.."Gordon you've just got to love him man"
Many years passed and both Gordon and I never seen much of each other, I still seen David in the town from time to time though..his trilby hat and overcoat. He would always shake my hand, aways had a smile on his face..
I didn't go to David's funeral I don't know why? I think I thought it wasn't my place I suppose..
Anyway I've still got some funny mental recollections of some of his antics with me and it is sad how David's life spanned out..so like Wayne I totally agree he's now in peace...
