Poem -

THE DAY I SURRENDER

THE DAY I SURRENDER

Where can I flee from your presence,
Darkness fades at your glare.
The caves that I had dug to hide my sins
Disintegrates, as your Spirit draws near.

I am left exposed, like the naked sky,
When righteousness visits my home.
How foolish was I to think I could hide
From the one that created my soul.

I run like the gazelle in the days of my youth,
And was stubborn, like the will of an ass
Yet beneath my feet that traveled your Word
Your mercy guided me to a repented path.

You gave me the faith to believe the unseen
And the strength to break free from sins power
A miracle happened and my life was renewed
At that very moment, to you, I surrendered.

Wilford Barker.
