THE DAY THE MOON FELL

As a child, I looked up and saw the lightÂ
Even in dark times, her love shines brightÂ
Staring at her face where love residesÂ
I felt a sense of security looking into her eyes.
Her words were always of kindness and loveÂ
A guiding light that shines from aboveÂ
I’ve never experienced anything like it in this worldÂ
The heavenly glory of my mother’s love.
She was not as a star distant and farÂ
Neither like the sun,
From whose heat one must run.
She was more like the moon with a steady glowÂ
Soft and gentle, guiding me home.
Then the clouds came with a rushing windÂ
It lingered for days with a deadly chill
When the darkness cleared, I lifted my head
And the sky became emptyÂ
As the moon fell.
In loving memory of my motherÂ
