game of chance

directed me

Seeing that
the cards
were continually 
shuffled
Without 
being
dealt 
I suspected 
a dealer’s
advantage
was in play

A Calvinist’s 
tactic
of a pre arranged 
outcome
With me
becoming
the loser
was obviously
the plan
I guess
the ruler
of the
stars
had already
determined
that I would
do better
as a villain
than
an innocent
bystander
who was
randomly
picked
to be the
fall guy
in a high stake
tournament

Yet unbeknownst
to the dealer
and the conspirators
seated around me
this gambler
always
carries
a 45
leaving
the provokers
an uneasy
realization
that they
are not the
ones
who are
holding
the cards
in this game
