THE DRAGON TREE

Sitting under the dragon tree
Mosquitoes bite and geckos freeze.

People passing acknowledging me
To their rooms perplexing me

The tugs are tugging up and down the stream
The waters flow insignificantly

A fruit bat passes in the dead of night
Street dogs howl in sweat and fright

A monitor lizard lays in its nest
Swallows caged under duress.

Day awakens 
People appear 
Under the dragon tree

I see.

I hear.
