the face
Alone, my desperation
Courses
Through silk
And the posies
That grace the garden
Of my subterfuge
Hides my façade
Making me dream
Of Pharaoh's
And faces
Recognizable
I hide in my stillness
And the mirror
Hides my hideous
Feelings
Of myself
And the way
To levels
Of beauteous
Recompense
-----------------------
I am
A face
Alone
And inquiring...

The mirror only ever reveals what the world sees; not what we see ourselves.
It is in the creation of art that we reveal our inner structures...and yours are as wide as a universe and just as deep.
The beautiful dichotomy running through this elegant poem is that you choose to expose those "hideous feelings of..." yourself before the mirror with such artfulness. Whatever power those feelings may have to dominate your thoughts; they pale in the face of those finer artistic sensibilities which illuminate your inner landscape.
A revelation! And a fine and artful one at that!!
