The Fall

The Fall

He was a likeable man

A quiet man

A gifted man

Played piano in a orchestral jazz band

Nickname was Mozart

Moved his fingers like he invented the art

Applause poured out

Fame was coming;

There was no doubt

Until one day, rumours came about

That put his future, now in doubt

He smiled a lot and stayed in his own space

Then one day his name came out of place

And the 'piano man' fell down from grace

Though the truth no one could ever trace.

Innuendos tossed around

Facts never landing on the ground

He retreated somewhere, without a sound

You might say he went underground.

Till one day the news came down;

And shocked the patrons all day long

He walked into a moving subway train;

And no one ever saw his smiling face again.

sis Cherie, I love your comment about your granddad playing the piano at the silent movies....a story within a comment, thanks for putting that thought in my head; that someone was in the theatre playing live, while the movie was showing....Cherie you should write a poem on that, about your granddad playing the piano... being the bridge connecting the audience with the silent light and movement on the screen....honestly I love that story....I wonder if he improvised to the action or had sheet music to work from....living in 2016, that whole scenario is so difficult to fathom, those were the days when they called movies Magic Shadows; and you could lose yourself in a movie; suspend your disbelief; with all the technology today you might think it would be easier, but it may be harder... wow, it is amazing how everything starts with a good story, and they are hard to find, sometimes.....you put a wonderful thought in my head today, sis....I appreciate that very much....thanks again
