Poem -

The Fault Was My Own

The pain so real I feel nothing at all.
That empty look in my eyes,
A void left by all the things I did to you,
And all the things I didnt do for you.

The game got me,
And I didnt even know I was playing.
I stood still and watched the days roll past,
Closing my eyes and closing my heart.

The storm lingered so long,
I wrapped myself up warm,
Worried about no one else,
I left you out in the cold.

Looking in from the outside,
You tried so hard,
But with my back turned,
You never stood a chance.

All my energy spent passing the blame,
Not for a moment did I look at myself.
Although it took too long,
Im not too proud to say,
That the fault was my own.
