The First Night Of The Rest Of Our Lives

For My Soulmate Linda- 25 years since that Magical Night

Monday night, November the second, nineteen and ninety-two;
After just four days of being together, we made plans to say “I Do”!
It had been a real whirlwind, taking our breaths, since meeting on that Thursday night;
We both knew that we’d found the truest of love, for everything felt so right!

We were sent to meet, by the stars above, at a very large singles dance;
In no time at all, such feelings we felt, we both smelled a bit of romance!
Then Friday night, we had our first date, with dinner, holding, and kiss;
We came back to your house and hugged for a while, both feeling the same sense of bliss!

Then Saturday night, right after you worked, you met me at a Halloween event;
We needed no costumes, for all there could see, two lovers that were for each other meant!
We kissed goodnight after four a.m., not quite ready to share the same bed;
But we both knew that we were madly in love, and thinking about what was ahead!

Just seven hours later, on late Sunday morn, we met, and you parked your car;
We drove up to Rockport, and held by the sea, our lips never apart too far!
Then after Clam Chowder, and more snuggling, we drove to Boston Downtown;
We went to Benihanas, we ate and we kissed, and threw lots of hot Sake down!

Then we drove back to pick up your car, kissed goodnight, going our separate ways;
Making arrangements to meet at your house, when you got home from work the next day!
I was waiting for you when you pulled in the drive, with shrimp, and a fine bottle of Champagne;
Then we went inside, and pledged our eternal love, never to part again!

That was “The First Day Of The Rest Of Our Lives”, 25 years ago on this date;
After just four days of talking and holding non-stop, we knew that we’d found our Soulmates!
So today my wife Linda, I say now to you, after a quarter century of pure bliss;
Our love has grown stronger, with each sweet embrace, still sealed with a non-ending kiss!
